I seem to be a little stuck on Disney posts lately. Probably because we were just there as a family last fall, and because it’s a treasure trove of content for anyone writing blogs about family and travel.
If you have younger kids and visit Disney, chances are you will meet some characters and get autographs. On our first trip, we bought those overpriced offical autograph books. Not surprisingly, the kids eventually just stuffed them in a drawer never to be looked at again.
During that trip we saw another visitor with a great idea and we’ve been doing it ever since. Head to your local Walmart, and grab their store brand 8”x10” photo frames. Either one for each kid or one for the whole family if you want to pack light. They are very sturdy and also very affordable, so they are perfect for this.
Remove the glass from the frames and leave that at home. The characters will happily sign the matte in the frame. The frame actually gives their costume covered fingers something easy to hold, and as a bonus it protects the matte from getting bent in your bag. If the frame gets banged up on the journey, at $7.99 you can replace it pretty easily…
Hopefully you manage to get that elusive “perfect Disney photo” where everyone is smiling, nobody is fidgeting, and there are no weird people in the background…. When you get home, drop it into the frame and reinstall the glass.
Even as she starts to get a little too old and too cool for Disney characters and princesses, my daughter still has hers proudly displayed in her room!
